Improving English Persuasive Writing in Malaysia: A Recommendation

Persuasive writing is a complex form of written discourse, requiring the writer to justify his stance with strong argument. The problems students experience when attempting persuasive include poor organization, lacking support in their arguments and immature language. purpose this paper recommend model help Malaysian secondary school improve essay writing. 150 from three schools Hulu Klang Area were selected for study instructed submit an according set prompts provided by researcher. Toulmin’s Model was employed analyse essays identifying elements that utilised essays. findings revealed students’ proficiency level significantly affected features they employ numerous factors encompassing teachers’ pedagogical approach, general knowledge reading habits influenced ability. Hence, recommendation put forth integrate classroom practice so should be able master structure which will subsequently strategies nurture critical thinking skills.
